Spoons for gold dustUp one level |
The two small spoons have a human form handle, one with a male figure, the other with a female one, perhaps portraying the Ashanti king and queen. The male figure has headwear and his hands crossed on his chest which touch his long beard. The queen has her left hand on her chest and her right hand over her right breast.
These Ashanti objects, used for weighing gold dust, were found in Nigeria, once the Benin kingdom, bordering with the Ashanti territories.
